Composite Decking · San Antonio & Surrounding Texas

Composite decks: build once, enjoy for 25 years.

TimberTech and Trex — splinter-free, fade-resistant decking installed by an in-house crew that has built hundreds of them across South Texas.

What we build

Composite Decking built for South Texas living.

Composite decking is a deck board made from a wood-fiber-and-plastic blend (or fully PVC) with a protective polymer cap, engineered to resist fading, staining, and rot without annual sealing. Capped composite from TimberTech and Trex typically lasts 25–50 years and runs about $75–$130 per square foot installed.

Composite decking has come a long way in the last ten years. The newest boards from TimberTech and Trex convincingly mimic ipe, mahogany, weathered teak, and reclaimed barnwood — and they'll still look that way in year twenty-five. No annual re-staining. No splinters in bare feet. No rot around the post bases.

In South Texas, where a stained cedar deck needs re-finishing every two to three years just to stay sharp, composite earns its premium upfront cost back within a decade. Most homeowners we work with never touch theirs again after install day.

We install TimberTech AZEK and Trex Transcend and Enhance to manufacturer spec. That matters because composite decking has specific install requirements — gapping, fastener type, breaker boards, picture-frame edges — and if your crew gets any of them wrong, the warranty is void.

Options

Composite decking brands we install.

We work with the leading composite brands and help you pick based on look, performance in heat, and warranty length.

  • TimberTech AZEK (PVC capped)

Fully synthetic — no wood fiber. Stays noticeably cooler in direct sun than wood-composite blends and carries a 50-year fade-and-stain warranty. Premium look, premium price.

  • TimberTech PRO (wood-composite)

Polymer-capped wood-composite blend in classic finishes like Mountain Oak, Coastline, and Pacific Rosewood. 30-year fade-and-stain warranty.

  • Trex Transcend

Trex's flagship line — capped composite with realistic streaking and a 25-year fade-and-stain warranty. The most-installed composite deck in the country.

  • Trex Enhance

The value-priced Trex line. Lighter weight, slightly less realistic graining, still a 25-year warranty. Great fit for budget-conscious projects.

  • Color-matched railings, fascia & risers

Composite railings, fascia, and riser boards matched to your deck boards for a finished, built-in look — no exposed framing or mismatched edges.

  • Hidden fasteners & picture-frame edges

All composite decks we install use the manufacturer's hidden-fastener system. Picture-frame perimeter boards available as a finishing detail — no exposed board ends.

FAQ

Questions about composite decking?

  • How long does composite decking last?
Modern capped composite decks routinely last 30 to 50+ years in real-world Texas conditions. The manufacturer warranties range from 25 to 50 years on fade and stain resistance, and lifetime on structural performance. The decks we installed in 2010 still look new.
  • Does composite decking get too hot in Texas summers?
In direct full sun, lighter-colored composite boards (gray, weathered teak) typically run 10-25°F hotter than air temp — similar to wood. Darker boards (espresso, black walnut) can run hotter, more like dark concrete. We talk through color and shade strategy before you choose, and PVC-capped options like TimberTech AZEK run noticeably cooler than wood-composite blends.
  • TimberTech vs Trex — which is best?
Honestly, both are excellent. TimberTech AZEK has the strongest cooling and the longest warranty. Trex has the largest selection and is the most-installed composite in the U.S. We help you pick based on look, warranty priority, and budget — not brand loyalty.
  • Can you build a composite deck over my existing wood deck?
Sometimes — only if the existing substructure is sound, properly spaced, and built with code-compliant footings. Most older decks need a new substructure. We inspect every existing deck before quoting a board-only resurface.
  • How much does composite decking cost installed?
In the San Antonio area, expect roughly $75-$130 per square foot installed depending on brand, color, railing system, and substructure work. PVC-capped premium lines like TimberTech AZEK run at the high end. Mid-line composites like Trex Enhance run at the low end.
